What does Nurtured Pathways mean?

Nurtured Pathways means to support someone on their journey of self care, health and wellness. Supporting their goals, challenges, triumphs and failures to sustain a healthier outlook and physical well-being; by means of educations, bodywork and emotional support along the way.

Our Mission

Everyone has their own personal goals and challenges regarding their health and wellness. Nurtured Pathways is a Trauma Informed Massage Therapy Practice. We specialize in working with victims of trauma, physical and sexual abuse, medical trauma, PTSD, complex chronic pain and autoimmune diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hashimoto’s and much more.

Nurtured Pathways was created to support people on their path to self care implementing alternative health modalities. We believe that there is a connection between being healthy on the inside and outside. We use a holistic approach to self care to help you on your journey; including: in-house Massage Therapy, Virtual Wellness Workshops, Classes, and more.

Trauma-Informed

What Does it mean to be a Trauma-Informed Bodyworker?

“Being trauma-informed is like learning a new language. It’s listening, but not just listening in the auditory sense. It’s learning to hear through visual experience, the ability to read facial cues, body movements, tiny shifts, and the ability to sense another’s state. To hear the words that are being spoken, and to also detect the words that are not being said. It’s possessing these skills and moving forward with loving awareness to allow someone to feel safe, heard, and validated.”

At Nurtured Pathways we apply the four R’s from SAMHSA for Trauma-Informed Bodywork:

  • REALIZE (in terms of neurobiology, psychology, and attachment theory) how a clients’ behavior, responses and preferences represent an adaptation to traumatic experiences, and that healing happens in relationships, so providing a safe and positive therapeutic alliance or collaboration with the client is highly valuable.

  • RECOGNIZE and RESPOND effectively to trauma-driven responses when they arise in clients.

  • RESIST re-traumatization by setting up and maintaining both the physical environment and the relational context in a way that maximizes the client’s sense of safety, and by ensuring that the session is client-centered; with clients explicitly empowered to determine the goals of the session and avoiding any suggestion that the client is broken or needs fixed.

Family-Friendly

We welcome the entire family into our office and offer services and workshops for all ages. We understand that sometimes it’s hard for working parents to take care of themselves and get regular massages or bodywork. So, we strive to be as accommodating as possible and will do our best to create the most comfortable environment for the whole family and all of our clients. We are a breastfeeding friendly environment and have a pack n’ play available for young mobile children. As well as coloring/ activity books, tablet with movies or games and books available to keep older children entertained while their parent or caregiver get their service.
